Chilli belongs to the Solanaceae family, they are native to Central and South America. They come in numerous varieties of shape, color and size. They contain capsicin and capsaicin, alcohols that provide the typical spicy flavor, contained in the seeds, veins and leaves in variable quantities according to the species and the degree of maturity. They are used in the kitchen to give flavor to foods, from rice to meat, from vegetables to shellfish.
